The Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies (ESHTE), in partnership with the Federal University of Rio Grande Sul, the Institute of Economics and Management, the World Association of Wine Tourism (AMETUR), the International Wine Law Association (AIDV) and the European Network of Wine Cities (RECEVIN) organized, in Portugal, from October 23 to 25, 2023, a very interesting Congress dedicated to Wine Tourism and the Law.
The success of this Congress owes a lot to Professor Carlos Torres and we understand that it is the first Legal Congress of its kind ever organized in Europe.
This Congress, which brought together tourism experts from many European countries, but also from Mexico, Argentina and Cuba, was held in different locations in Portugal, and in particular, on October 25, 2023, in Santa Marta of Penaguiao, in the beautiful Douro wine region.
Olivier MANDEL, Managing partner of the Mandel & Associés law firm, had the honor of participating, as a panelist, in this Congress, on October 25, 2023.
His presentation focused on the following subject: the main legal obstacles to the development of wine tourism in France, together with a presentation of the French label “Vignobles & Découvertes”.
The other speakers of the round table in which Olivier MANDEL participated deserve to be cited. They are Valentín Francisco Ugarte (Argentina), Inmaculada Cabrera (Spain), Karolina Pruchniewicz (Poland), Andrej Micovic (Serbia), Marie Vandersanden (Germany), Angelo Venchiarutti (Italy) and Afonso Café (Portugal).
The presentations of all speakers should be published online in 2024 in the International Journal of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Law.
